How to Make May Day Basket Bags
Instead of baskets, we made little May Day bags to deliver to school friends. I picked up a few items from Dollar Tree – bubbles, chalk, a craft activity, and glow sticks – to fill our paper bag “baskets”.
You can easily make a simple basket from a brown paper bag. All you need is a pen, a pair of scissors, and a hole punch.
Use a pen to sketch out your scallop pattern. I just divided the bag in fourths to make four equal scallops. Then cut off the top of the bag.
You can make your scallop right at the top of the bag, or further down if you want a shorter basket.
Then punch a hole in each scallop in the paper bag.
Attaching May Day Tags to the Paper Bags
Cut out the printable tags (grab the printable PDF file at the bottom of this post) and the punch a hole in each side. Run thin ribbon (I used raffia) through the two holes and a round the bag. Then tie in the back with a simple bow.
